Throughout Austin’s eclectic bar scene, you’ll find a number of really fun themed ones. Some bringing Christmas year round, some taking you to tropical or beach-y locations, and so much more! They’re a great way to shake up your night out with something a little more extra, especially as the holidays draw near and it gets a little colder. These are the best bars with themes in Austin.
Miracle on 5th
307 W 5th St, Austin, TX 78701
Miracle on 5th is absolutely Austin’s most anticipated Christmas bar. Eleanor transforms into Miracle on 5th only ever during winter, showcasing three floors of wall-to-wall Christmas magic. Each bar area has a slightly different festive theme, and the drinks are served in some of the best glasses we’ve ever seen.
Lala’s Little Nugget
2207 Justin Ln, Austin, TX 78757
Lala’s is Austin’s beloved year-round Christmas themed bar. Having opened in 1972, it’s a cozy little dive bar with great drinks, pool tables, and more than enough festive cheer — including a countdown to Christmas — to keep you going all year long.
Carousel Lounge
1110 E 52nd St, Austin, TX 78723
Carousel Lounge is a long-standing Austin icon, filled with circus-themed murals and decor — including a huge pink elephant! And to top it all off they have live music most nights of the week. They only serve beer and wine, but you are welcome to bring your own liquor.
Wonder Bar
11500 Rock Rose Ave, Suite D, Austin, TX 78758
Wonder Bar always gets decorated for holidays, but day-to-day the theme is rainbows. The whole bar is full of bright colors, disco balls, and interactive installations to make your night all the more exciting. Come here ready to party and take some fantastic pics!
Kitty Cohen’s
2211 Webberville Rd #3548, Austin, TX 78702
Chilly weather getting you down? Kitty Cohen’s whole vibe is 1970s Palm Springs, making it one of Austin’s best bars with themes. We can’t promise it will always be the warmest, but the patio bar’s numerous palm trees, beach-y cocktails, and mini pool will have you in that summer mindset.
Unbarlievable
76 Rainey St, Austin, TX 78701
Unbarlievable goes a step beyond circus, into a wacky and whimsical land of neon animals, giant drink glasses (like for 4-6 people), and slides that are actually big enough for adults! It’s a little outrageous, and absolutely perfect for a good time.
Tiki Tatsu-ya
1300 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704
Tiki Tatsu-ya just opened this past October, and has quickly become everyone’s island paradise. They have a ton of craft tiki cocktails serving up incredible presentations on top of spectacular flavors — not to mention an entirely separate list dedicated to rum! And being a part of the Tatsu-ya family, while they don’t have ramen, their snacks are absolutely incredible.
