She is encouraging people to give their donations via her JustGiving page. “I would be really grateful if you felt able to support me… not only for Eddie, but also for all the people you love living with dementia, ” she said.

In a really nice way of showing that he cares, her ex-husband, James McAvoy, 47, reposted her heartfelt call to action so that more people would know about it.

Even though it is early days, the reaction has been so great that Duff’s fundraiser has already raised nearly £6, 000 and this has been made possible mainly through generous donations from both fans and celebrities.

Her former spouse, James McAvoy, giving a public show of support, has been comforting at this very difficult time. They got married in 2006 after meeting on the set of Shameless and very soon after they had their son, Brendan, now 16, who was named after Duff’s father.
