Angie Best Opens Up About Her Cancer Fight, Tells Fans She Has Lost a Lot of Weight
Angie Best, a former model and mother of TV personality Calum Best, is brave enough to share her colon cancer fight with the whole world. Angie was the first wife of football legend George Best and she has been really open about her journey since the announcement of her diagnosis in January.
She is receiving an alternative treatment there which is known as mistletoe therapy. The therapy uses extracts from the European mistletoe plant.
In a recent video update, Angie expressed that she had lost a lot of weight and that she was now only 7 stone. She also gave fans a real glimpse of the physical suffering on her face through this emotional disclosure.
Angie Best Shares Emotional Update on Mistletoe Therapy and Weight Struggles Amid Cancer Fight
Angie Best lifted the lid on her mistletoe treatment to her fans and described the process as ‘very humbling’. She didn’t mask her weight battle to the extent that she said, ‘I’m trying to eat healthy because I have to gain weight as I weigh 46 kilos and with the next two rounds of chemo, I need more weight’.
She even jokingly concluded, ‘But the catch is, I’m trying to eat healthy so now I’ve got to go and eat, not quite so healthy. I’m sure I’ll come up with something.’
In the video Angie gave an explanation of the therapy and wrote it in the caption: ‘I am receiving Mistletoe therapy today, it enhances your immune system and helps to reduce the side effects of Chemotherapy and radiation such as pain, nausea, and fatigue.’ Her son Callum expressed his love by commenting, ‘Love you.’
Not long ago, Angie shared a morning affirmation in which she thanked her body for ‘fighting this battle with me’.
Angie Best Remains Positive and Determined in Her Struggle to Naturally Gain Weight
Angie Best is determined to gain weight in a natural way so as not to have to rely on “chemical food” that is usually doctors’ recommendation. “It is a grateful gesture and at the same time, a request for more help in my getting weight because if I don’t get weight, then I have to drink this chemical food that they want me to drink, which really doesn’t sit well with me at all,” she said.
Even though there are so many difficulties, Angie cannot be gloomy. “For this reason, we are trying to do it the natural way which to me is the right way but it is all a battle, however, it is not a battle that we cannot win and we definitely will win,” she explained.
Words of encouragement for others formed the conclusion of her message: “If you are out there fighting any battles, just remember that this too shall pass and you will come out a winner, and we will be winners.” Her caption expressed almost the same message: “This too shall pass, for all of us.”
Angie Best gets emotional as she remembers George Best and her niece Sam Womack offers support
Sam Womack, the actress of East Enders and also the niece of Angie Best—who recovered from breast cancer in 2022—gave her aunt some motivating words. “YES AUNTIE!!!!! Eat eat eat and you always look beautiful,” was what Sam penned.
Angie got to know the football player George Best in 1975, which marked the start of her fame. The meeting was at a dinner party in Los Angeles, and it was “love at first sight.” In 1976, the couple moved to London. George subsequently returned to LA after her and convinced her to marry him.
On January 24, 1976, the couple got married and five years later they had their son, Calum. They, however, did not stay together for long, as they separated a year later and got divorced in 1986 due to George’s alcoholism.
