Marshals Episode Acts As a Real-Life Memorial for Cole Brings Plenty, Says Arielle Kebbel
The April 5 installment of Marshals featured a memorial event for Monica at Brocken Rock reservation which also turned out to be a touching homage to Cole Brings Plenty, actor of the Yellowstone spinoff 1923. Marshals’ Arielle Kebbel shared that Mo Brings Plenty, who plays Yellowstone’s Mo in the series, actually turned his shoot into a memorial by bringing his family and honoring his late nephew.
Kebbel shared with PEOPLE, “That day we shot the memorial and Mo Brings Plenty brought his family with him, the memorial was a gesture to the nephew who died. This will always be one of my most unforgettable moments. It was deeply moving.” Through the combination of fiction and reality, the episode turned into a significant tribute not only for the show but also for Mo’s family.

Arielle Kebbel talks about how Cole Brings Plenty’s emotional memorial scene impacted her and her bond to the family
Arielle Kebbel talked about how filming the memorial scene took her very close to the emotions as it was also a real-life tribute for Cole Brings Plenty. Sadly, Cole was found dead at the age of 27 in April 2024, shortly after he was reported missing.
Kebbel reflected on the whole experience as it was a mix of both art and reality. She said, “It was a real reminder that the lines between art and life are very blurred and very powerful.”
In this episode, Kebbel’s character, Belle and the Marshals team, i.e., Logan Marshall-Green, Ash Santos and Tatanka Means, helped Kayce (Luke Grimes) get through his difficult day. Besides forming an emotional connection to the scene, Kebbel also got very close to the Brings Plenty family whom she calls a “beautiful community”. The family is even sending her the jewelry that they have made with their hands. In her words, “It brings me to tears to be part of this community and also to learn more about what happened to Cole and bring that awareness.”

Certain Characters in Marshals
Arielle Kebbel called her memorial experience “something no one can plan for but has deeply changed me forever.” She also mentioned her pleasure to see Mo Brings Plenty and Gil Birmingham, who plays Thomas Rainwater, come back for the Marshals spinoff along with the child actor playing Kayce and Monica’s son.
Kebbel pointed out Kayce’s distinctive position in the narrative, “He is the one who travels between the Duttons, the Rez, and East Camp, and his character is the very front line of bringing all that history to our storylines now.”
She continued that it “feels very, very special” with Gil and Mo Brings Plenty being part of the project, thus highlighting the importance of their presence in the series.

Mo Brings Plenty Reveals Details About The Tragic Death Of Nephew Cole And The Police Uninvestigated Murder

Mo Brings Plenty who said that he felt like Cole was “like a son to me, ” said the loss was “heartbreaking” in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter.
Mo voiced a great deal of anger about the fact that no one is looking into the case of Cole’s death. “How can his murder be not investigated, and it is even said that there was ‘no foul play, ‘ just because they did not want to invest anything into it? A spokesperson for the Lawrence Police Department explained that they provided the Brings Plenty family with a comprehensive, in-person presentation of evidence—including videos, witness statements, and photographs. However, the family chose not to release these details publicly, and the department respected their wishes out of compassion.
The family petitioned the court to seal key documents related to the case, including the autopsy report, medical examiner’s files, law enforcement case files from both the Lawrence Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, and Cole Brings Plenty’s death certificate.
