Selena Gomez Hopes to Become a Mother “One Day” After Her Wedding to Benny Blanco
After Wizards Beyond Waverly Place finale, she says, “Hopefully one day that’ll be me.”
In a perfect world, Gomez would be like her character. She made a very cute gesture to her mom and fans after Wizards Beyond Waverly Place season two finale when she posted a video of her character becoming a mother and added her own comment that she would like to be a mother one day.
“Alex Russo is a mommy,” wrote Selena on an Oct. 9 Instagram Story accompanying a video of the character. “Hopefully one day that’ll be me.” The unexpected ending came after the finale in which Alex, after announcing that Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) is her daughter, sacrifices her life to close the doomsday gate.
The celebrity has not hidden her longing to have a family, even when dealing with health problems.
So, Selena, 33, who is not a mother yet, has also been quite frank about her intention to become a parent, sharing the hardships she has experienced with her health. “I have never said this… but sadly, I am not able to have my own kids,” Selena confessed in a September 2024 Vanity Fair interview. “I am in such poor health that both my life and the baby’s could be at risk.” She said that this “was a downtime I had to experience and it was grieving.”
Optimistic about a family on their own terms
While going through her health issues, Selena and Benny – who started dating in 2023 – keep a positive attitude about creating a family in their own way. “I don’t know what is going to happen, naturally, but I do love kids,” the “Younger and Hotter Than Me” singer stated in March during the Jay Shetty podcast. “I love getting [children] to laugh; they are just so cute. One thing to be certain of is the fact that when that day will come, she will be thrilled to the core.
In addition to daydreaming about motherhood, Selena is reflecting on how being a mother may impact her professional life and her fame management.
She is considering establishing more clear boundaries if she ever gets children
“I feel that I will definitely be more boundaries set when I have children,” Selena explained on the Good Hang podcast, September. “I will definitely do this to keep my sanity. Yet, I couldn’t even imagine how it would be.” She further said that, in spite of the great affection for the fans, it is sometimes a hard task to be there all the time: “It’s like I have to make a personal interaction with a lot of people who maybe don’t have the chance to get one – a smile, a hug, or a photo. So, it’s very hard. Overall, it’s a lot because I love doing it.”
