Honest Health Update
Teddi Mellencamp keeps her fans in the loop as to how she manages her stage 4 cancer diagnosis.
In a heartfelt Instagram message on Monday, Sept. 22, the 44-year-old ex-RHOBH star, confessed that dealing with her changed life, focusing on her wellness, and being positive have not been a walk in the park all the time.
“Mondays, am I right?”, she wrote sharing with her followers a no-makeup-look selfie taken at home where she was wearing a comfortable hoodie and her short blonde hair was fully visible.
“So many feelings today. Sending love to all of you. If I haven’t gotten back to you, I send you my love. I am just in the middle of a tough time.”
Finding Gratitude
Although Mellencamp did not go into detail about her difficulties, she prompted her 1.2 million followers to reveal their “positives from today.”
On top of that, she said: “My is: I am very grateful for the people in my life,” with a pink heart emoji. Not long after, her comments’ section was flooded with not only the love but also the support from the fans, who sent her the strength that she may require for her battle with cancer.
Messages of Hope
People who believed also sent their own stories of survival as a source of faith for Teddi.
One of the follower’s report was, “My sister was diagnosed with lung cancer, breast cancer, throat cancer stage 4 with liver cancer. She defeated them all and has been cancer free for 5 and a half years!”.
Another pointed out, “My dad beat stage 4 melanoma!! Keep on going!! Immunotherapy is tough but he’s been cancer free for a very long time. Love and prayers to you.”
These testimonies of hope made explicit the community of strength which was with Teddi in her ongoing battle.
Ongoing Battle
John Mellencamp was first told that he had melanoma stage 2 – the most dangerous type of skin cancer – back in 2022. After that, she has undergone removals of 17 melanoma spots, four brain tumors, and in April she confirmed that the cancer had spread to her brain and lungs.
Medical visits are always happening, and in an Instagram Stories video from August, the Bravo alumlet said that they can wear her out, although she keeps a very good focus on her health and treatment.
Living in the Doctors’ Offices
“I am seeing so many doctors but it seems like I am living in doctors’ offices,” Teddi confessed while filming herself in a paper hospital gown, August. “Here we go again. Everyone go get your checks — for all the things. All the appointments. It’s worth it.”
– In an exclusive peek at her guest spot on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, the co-host of Two Ts in a Pod, last month, said that the side effects of her treatments were so severe that she was even doubting whether she would remain with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
Choosing Grace Over Pressure
Why she decided to take a hiatus from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Teddi explained in a very honest manner. “Not really, no. I just don’t seem to have the energy or the spirit for it at the moment,” she admitted. “I’m simply not the type of person who would start something only if I can be good at it.”
She also brought up some lingering issues due to her operations. “Sometimes I feel like my words stammer a bit and it’s not because I’m lying. There are people who have to learn to speak again after those surgeries which I had. I am very fortunate that I can do a lot of things. But it still occurs to me, and some days are really terrible.”
