Tenisha Warner Talks About Her Late Spouse

The wife of Malcolm-Jamal Warner has made a public statement for the first time since the actor’s untimely death by drowning on July 20.
Tenisha Warner shared a post on Instagram on Friday, Sept. 12 to pay tribute to her late husband, a day before their wedding anniversary would have been their eighth anniversary.
“Thank you for being so loving with us during this vulnerable period,” she commented with a touching photo from their 2017 wedding. “Tomorrow is our anniversary – and I still love him so much.”

Honoring His Legacy

“I’m sharing for the first time just a little bit of the love that made our family,” Tenisha wrote. “I still can hear my husband’s laughter, still feel how he created space between us for every part of me — every tear, every dream.”
In addition, she shared that she and their daughter are doing a foundation launch as a tribute to the late Cosby Show star.
“My daughter and I, in his memory, are today launching River & Ember and formally opening The Warner Family Foundation,” she stated. “The legacy that my husband and I started, we continue together—one that supports the residential light in children and gives young artists the opportunity to create freely outside the lines.”

A Heartbreaking Loss

“This is love. Still moving. Still making. Still carrying us forward,” was Tenisha’s heartfelt response.
On July 20 Malcom-Jamal Warner was in Costa Rica, where he went for a swim near Cocles and was caught in a strong current. He was 54 years old. The actor accidentally drowned.
The Local Police of Costa Rica informed that the Resident actor had been taken out of the sea by the people who were close to the place and he was transported to land where the rescue was made by the Costa Rican Red Cross who tried to resuscitate him but the attempt was in vain.

Tributes From Family and Co-Stars

Officials took Warner’s body to the San Joaquín de Flores morgue for a forensic examination and registered the cause of death as asphyxia by immersion.
A number of the actor’s ex co-stars reached out to the media to pay their respects to him in the days after his death. One of them was Cosby Show alum Keshia Knight Pulliam who played Warner’s onscreen sister. In a July 28 Instagram post, she expressed her sorrow by saying, “A week ago I lost my big brother, but I gained an angel… I love you… I miss you… We got our girls.”
On Aug. 8, Warner’s mother, who was previously silent, posted on social media to pay tribute to her son and express her grief over the terrible loss.

A Mother’s Heartfelt Words

Pamela Warner wrote, “For those who struggle to understand, who grieve the suddenness, who miss him and long to hear his voice or see his radiant smile once more, may you find comfort in knowing he was calm and, more importantly, that he did not suffer.”
“Malcolm came into the world through water and died through water. It was his moment,” she commented. “His purpose on earth was over.”
