13 Things We’re All Looking Forward to Doing After Quarantine

COVID-19 (‘rona to the fam) came to test our organizing skills and resiliency. It also tested our ability to stay connected even when social distancing was a lifesaver. It still is, but we know you’re thinking about life after quarantine already.

Psychologists talk about the importance of having a purpose when experiencing stressful events in life. They say that if you focus on your dreams, rather than your circumstances, your overall attitude towards life substantially improves. We asked our readers about simple goals that they have, things that they are looking forward to doing once the quarantine is over. Here are their most wholesome answers:

Hugging everyone you love

It seems like it was taken for granted, but hugging plays a vital role in our lives. Virginia Satir, a known family therapist, stated that “We need four hugs a day for survival. We need eight hugs a day for maintenance, and 12 hugs a day for growth.”

Going to the movies and paying for overpriced (but delicious) popcorn

There is something magical about the movies. It’s always entertaining to have the enormous screen, the Dolby surround system, and the bunch of strangers sharing the same joke, fear, or drama.

Having dinner at your favorite restaurant

Yes, they probably have the curbside pick-up or the food ordering app system, but nothing beats the atmosphere, the sound of other cups clinking around you, and the enjoyment of eating your favorite food at a place where you enjoy yourself.

Traveling to all the places you wanted to go before this started

Suddenly our priorities were re-arranged, and while we were at home, some of us started thinking of all the places we’d have loved to visit. Where would you go?

Buying things you probably don’t need at your favorite retail store

It is scientifically proven that you get a pleasurable feeling when you’re shopping. The reason behind it is the dopamine released by your brain; this can be the reason why shopping is considered a coping mechanism.

Watching the sunset with your friends

Sure, it’s fine alone. But there’s something about sitting on the top of a car in the summertime after an allnighter with friends.

Going on a road trip with your friends or family

During the planning stage, you get to dream about the places you’ll go, and the things you’ll do. Having the people you love around you, gives you peace of mind, or anxiety, but in any case, is something different to spice our life up!

Going to local concerts

Suddenly we miss the close spaces, the loud bands, and busy venues. Think about local festivals and concerts in open areas that will be held once we resume our lives.

Organizing or attending a big family get-together

Missing the fam extra hard today? We feel ya.

Hanging out at your local coffee shop

Working from home wouldn’t be so bad if we could go out once in a while.

Watching live sports

We can’t wait to start watching live sports, and we are sure that all the athletes out there are eager to train and play again, too.

Going to flea markets, thrift stores, and farmers’ markets

It’s the little things, you know?

Walking on the beach

We miss the shore most of all.
