4 Party Games for the Whole Family to Enjoy

It’s always lovely when the whole family comes to visit. You can catch up over a delicious dinner and learn more about what’s been going on in each other’s lives.

But when you’re hosting a family gathering, it can often be difficult to think of ways to keep everybody entertained. There’s only so much time that you will spend eating or catching up, so what do you do with the rest of the day?

One of the best ways to provide entertainment for all of your relatives is to think of some fun party games. Everybody loves an intense game of monopoly or a challenging game of Cluedo.

While the classic board games are great, they aren’t the only option. There are lots of less common party games that will keep every one of your guests engaged in family fun during their time at your house.

Here are four of the best party games for the whole family to enjoy at home on a Saturday night, including the classics and the less traditional options.

Riddles

Why not get everybody’s brains ticking with some funny riddles for adults. There is a never-ending stream of great riddles online that you can read out to your relatives and have them solve each one.

Riddle solving is the perfect activity to do while everybody is sitting around the dinner table, either before or after you’ve eaten. You can go round the table, and each person must read a riddle out for the next person to solve.

Musical Chairs

Musical chairs is a classic party game and it’s not just for children! It’s a great way to get everybody involved, adults and all, while they are at your party.

It’s a simple game that gets you all out of your chairs. One person needs to take control of the music. When the master music controller stops the tunes, everybody needs to sit down as quickly as possible on a chair. The last person standing is eliminated from the game.

Think of a small prize for the last person standing. Maybe it’s an extra piece of cake or a mini gift. Having a mini prize is a great incentive to coax out everybody’s competitive side.

Likes and Dislikes

This is a simple yet fun game that everybody is bound to love. Give each family member a piece of paper and a pen and get them to write down around 5-10 likes and dislikes.

From here, you all need to guess what each other has written down. It’s a test to see who knows each other the best in your family and it’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about everyone at the same time.

Charades

Charades is another classic that can’t be forgotten at a family party.

During charades, one of you acts out a person’s name, song title, or movie title, without saying a word. The rest of the team has to guess what this person is trying to act out. Again, you can think of a prize to make the game more competitive.
