4 Fun and Affordable Activities in New Jersey

If you’re looking for fun activities this summer but don’t have a lot to spend, it might feel like an impossible task. We’re here to tell you that this ain’t the case and that there are many things you can do to have fun without breaking the bank. Here are four of our finest suggestions:

1. Play games

If you enjoy visiting the casino but don’t fancy a trip out of town, you could try playing casino live games on your mobile or computer. Lightning Blackback is an exciting option to try online if you haven’t got a lot of time on your hands or are planning to only play for a short while. Likewise, Football Studio Live is another game variant for those among you who love sports, whether it’s in a stadium or incorporated into games.

Online casino games are unique because they can be played anywhere, no matter where you are or how much time you have. They work similarly to traditional casino games, and will often have social aspects that will add a more competitive edge to the popular blackjack, roulette, and baccarat games.

2. Visit a museum or zoo.

Many city zoos and museums will have free admission days during the week; this can be a great way of having fun and learning something new without spending any money. Bergen County Zoological Park, located in Paramus (NJ), is a great choice if you’re looking to spend the day learning, with tickets starting at around $8 plus fees.

While it’s good manners to leave a small donation, especially on free entry days, you are not obligated to do so, and you won’t be frowned upon for turning up and looking around. To have the best possible time, check to see what exhibits will be active beforehand and plan your day to make sure you don’t miss anything.

3. Take a walk or hike.

There’s nothing better than a dose of fresh air, and a walk or hike will get your body moving and your blood pumping. Mt. Tammany is a classic go-to for any hiker looking to get about and about in the New Jersey area, but you’ll need to make sure you’ve prepared well in advance as the trail can sometimes be a little unforgiving.

It’s a great way to have fun, and you don’t have to go all that far, sticking to what you’re comfortable with, and going as far as you want. If you’re not a regular hiker, perhaps look to stay within your immediate area or choose a trail for beginners – you can then branch out once you’re more confident.

4. Go on a picnic

A picnic is great if you want to eat great food without having to pay restaurant prices, and you can have it wherever you want, making it easy, convenient, and budget-friendly.

To have a great picnic, you need some food (obviously), a blanket or something to set your food on, and something to drink. If you want to add some extra excitement, you can all bring a couple of items each but not discuss it beforehand, so you’ll be sure to be in for a surprise. Whether you go to a local park or fancy hiking to a more scenic spot, the world is your oyster!

Having a good time doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money. Whether it’s going for a scenic picnic with friends or playing some low-stakes casino games, there are many great options for you to choose from that won’t break the bank but are still very fun.
